Once you have done this you will start to discover common questions and topics for your content.
During this process you may notice that search volume for particular keywords varies greatly. Of course you want to target terms that your audience is searching for, however, sometimes it may benefit you more targeting terms with lower search volume because they’re far less competitive but can still lead to traffic and conversions.
The higher the search volume for a given keyword or phrase, the more work is typically required to achieve higher rankings.
Usually, the higher the search volume, the greater the competition will be. However, if you go too low, you will risk not drawing any searches back to your site, so you will be back at square one.
When keyword search terms are highly specific and have lower competition, this is called long-tail keywords. For example, an individual may search for “shoes” which would be a normal, very broad, keyword, or an individual may search for “the best running shoes for women in blue”, which is a long tail keyword.
